Today is a good day. Sun shining, birds singing, bees buzzing, spring in the air. The first day it’s been warm enough to ditch the jumper. Straight out of Disney. A great day to reset and start afresh. A day for new beginnings.
Today we did what everyone does and took a look at the garden with “summer’s coming” eyes, and realised how much we’ve neglected it for the last year. So we decided to take the opportunity to nurture the garden, and in doing so, nurture ourselves.
The great annual hack back took place this afternoon in the balmy April air. It might seem counterintuitive to view chopping back the garden as nurturing. On the surface it’s really rather destructive behaviour. But it’s about cutting out dead wood, controlling disease and making way for new life to flourish and grow. Can’t think of a more appropriate activity for us right now!
